At IsletNexus, we are reimagining the future of diabetes care—cell by cell. Our research bridges the gap between basic science and clinical application by focusing on stem cell–derived islets, advanced transplantation strategies, and the metabolic roots of diabetes.
But what truly sets IsletNexus apart is our collaborative spirit.
We are proud to bring together three dedicated research teams—Holz Lab, Malek Lab, and Delibasi Lab—each focusing on a uniquely critical aspect of diabetes:
🔬 Holz Lab explores cutting-edge drug discovery and GPCR-based therapeutics targeting metabolic diseases, including GLP-1 receptor agonists.
🧬 Malek Lab investigates beta cell failure and environmental/genetic factors impacting islet health, including the role of divalent metals like zinc and cadmium.
🧫 Delibasi Lab develops stem cell–derived islet technologies aimed at restoring insulin production through cell-based transplantation.
Though our scientific lenses differ, our mission is unified: to advance understanding and treatment of diabetes through team-driven, interdisciplinary research. Whether it’s planning joint experiments, co-mentoring students, or publishing collaborative work, we believe our strength lies in shared purpose and mutual support.
